Small Business Profits From Invoice Factoring

We are all aware that a significant number of both large and small businesses have struggled to survive during the economic downturn. Small businesses do not have the resources that larger companies have and have been particularly hard hit. Many have closed and the owners have walked away, others have either changed their model, changed the product/service mix or have added products that others would purchase in order to survive.

A recession tends to take out businesses that are marginal. An example of this is two restaurants in the same area. One has quality food, great service, reasonable prices and is well managed. The other restaurant serves a lower quality meal, the service is less than desirable and the prices are the same. During a recession, the second restaurant is not as likely to make it through the rough times. This is true for all industries and businesses. This “cleansing” opens the door for new businesses and new competition as the economy begins to improve.

This creates a significant opportunity for The Interface Financial Group. The surviving businesses will start growing and will need IFG services. New businesses will be starting and because the business is new and probably has limited assets, as the owners begin to grow the business, the businesses will require funding that can not be obtained through traditional financing (banks, credit unions and other asset based lenders).

In the past few weeks, it appears that the economy may be experiencing some improvement or at least has slowed the rate of decline. It is too early to tell if the improvement will continue but it is beginning to look like there will be new opportunities in the near future. IFG stands ready to help existing and new businesses as the economy improves.

  1. I think we start seeing some increasing in activity this last week. I hope that this is the trend and not just a correction. Let’s see if volume of inquiries will grow for the next couple of weeks.

  2. I’ve been talking to a lot of small businesses that have literally seen their revenues go to almost nothing over the last 4 to 6 months. As they come out of the recession and start growing again, how many months of “decent” revenues will it take before IFG will fund them? Assuming of course that they meet the other criteria.

  3. My office has had an increase in new client inquiries since the economic downturn. Unfortunatley, we have declined a larger number due to the credit quality of our client’s customers. My hope is that this will change if the economy improves. The clients we turn down today may be in better shape six months from now. I will keep in touch with these folks in case their situation improves.

    I think that it will take from 3 to 6 months from the moment of the economy turns until Balance Sheets start showing real improvement.

  5. I was just reviewing the comments on this post and note that it is almost 3 months since George commented that it will take that long to get improved financials. My gut feel right now is that there was a pick up in activity in August, but that things have slowed down since then. George is driving a lot of people to the IFG Network website, but few seem to be contacting up. At least on Tuesdays! Activity in Arizona seems to be down as well.
